Post 178: CAS Birthday Card: The Letter Press Look

Hi friends :)

I'd like to share something new I tried today. This is an A2 size top folding CAS birthday card
I went for the typography/letter press look in it.
The artist whose work I was inspired by is Alan Kitching. One google search on the name reveals so many gorgeous examples of very unique and interesting work. But I must say, I found it very challenging to convert that into a card, for the longest time I did not know what to do or how to do it. So I experimented with a new techniques for me Gelli Printing and used that to create this look. I also used the word dies I had in a different way by using alphabets from different words to create varied sizes

I loved the number of bright and bold orange and yellow color combinations that I saw in Alan Kitching's work like in "why are the arts so white", "nuclear meltdown" and "stars" so went with that color scheme with some blacks thrown in. So basically, I created some gelli print papers (A4 size) using a Gelli Arts Gelli Plate and acrylic paints. Then die cut words from these gelli print papers then cut apart the letters and pieced them together to create the words. Finally. stamped 2 of the words to complete the sentiment (partially inking the birthday so the die cut "y" could act as the y for birthday).

The sentiment reads, "Hi Wish You A Happy Birthday" I pieced the alphabets inspired by Alan K.'s work in how he makes them into a puzzle and plays with horizontal and vertical positioning of the alphabets like for example in "cross rail".

Post 177: Floral Card with Distress Oxides

Hi friends :)

I tried out my new distress oxide inkpads on this card and I must say I love the fact that one can stamp with them. I used the wonderful technique shared by Kelly G.  in which she used a die to create a stencil :) I did the same by using a circle die and creating a stencil out of it. My card design was inspired by her one layer card for W & W's Rerun No. 19. I loved her use of the die cut as a stencil, the distress ink blending around the stencilled area, the positioning of the sentiments and I did my own version of the same since I didn't have the parentville sets.

List of Supplies:

Winnie & Walter Stamp- In Bloom: Lola's Bouquet with Joni Andaya (for the flowers)
Winnie & Walter Stamp- Wishing You with Evelin T Designs (Sentiment)
Sizzix Framelits Die- Circles
Gina K Designs Stitched Rectangles Die Set
Ranger's Archival Ink- Watering Can (for stamping the sentiment)
Distress Oxide Inkpads- Broken China, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Cracked Pistachio (for ink blending and stamping the flowers)
Mudra Clear Sequins
Glossy Accents
Cardstock 250 gsm

Post 176: Floral Birthday Card

Hi Friends :)

I'd like to share a floral birthday card today.
This is inspired by the design of the beautiful mother's day card made by Heather Hoffman for Winnie & Walter's Rerun 19. I loved the idea of using a floral pattern paper and having the sentiment in the middle. Also, the addition of the twine. I tweaked the card design a bit and also made it into a birthday card because I usually need a lot of birthday cards :) I've added the sentiment on a vellum die cut and colored the die cut with some distress oxide. Embellished the card with dew droplets in light pink color.

List of Supplies:

Winnie & Walter Cutaways- Wishes (die cut)
Winnie & Walter Stamp- The Big, the bold and the happy (birthday)
Gina Marie Designs Scalloped Ovals Die

Post 175: Mixed Media ATCs: Water

Hi Friends :)

I'd like to share a set of Media Media Artist Trading Cards I created on the theme of water/sea/beach.
These are 5 and they were made on recycled cardboard.
I really love the look of corrugated cardboard so I let the texture show through in some places.
I created texture with gesso and texture paste, created a grungy look by tearing the paper and added colors using sprays, wax and acrylic colors. Then to embellish the project used metal charms, gauze, burlap cord and marbles. Added more texture with mini beads and glass glitter. Colored the dusty attic chipboard pebbles with Picket fence distress inkpad. In the end, finished with white splatter.

Post 174: CAS Floral Card: Let the Good Times Roll

Hi Friends :)

I'd like to share a Clean and Simple Card here.
This is an A2 sized top folding card.
I made it by using some of the stamps I had in a different way :) I had the Perpetual Bliss stamp by Paper Smooches, there was a circular design in it so I used that design to create the multi-colored flowers by first stamping the circular center and then repeatedly stamping around it to create the petals. Then for the fillers I used the heart design stamp and to add more circles I inked up the eraser on the back of a pencil (thats a little tip from Jennifer Mcguire and it worked!!)
The little flower on the top right is a die cut from Cutplorations and I added a pearl to it. In the end, I finished off with 3 silver sequins and also added some white dots to the flower centers.

List of Supplies:

Ranger's Dye Inkpad- Pink Gumball
Lawn Fawn Ink Cubes- mermaid, sunflower and hippo
Iris White Cardstock 250 gsm
Pencil with a round eraser on the back
Half Pearl
Mudra- Silver Sequins
Tombow Mono Multi Glue

Post 173: Fun and Whimsical CAS birthday Card

Hi Folks!

I'd like to share a fun, chirpy and whimsical birthday CAS card :)
The color scheme of this one is quite loud with the contrast between black and yellow.
I created a hand drawn black border around the card panel and card base to give a haphazard whimsical look.
This is an A2 sized side folding card.
That happy little flying dog is very cute I think :)
I added shimmer to the project with clear wink of stella by going over the parachute and sun rays with it.

Black Sharpie Marker
Ranger's Archival Jet Black Inkpad
Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens

Post 172: CAS Christmas Card

Hi friends :)

Hope you had a good weekend and have a great week ahead.
It is very hot in Delhi. Despite that, I think I prefer summers to winters.

Onto crafting, I'd like to share a Clean and Simple Christmas Card today.
This is a 5 by 7 inches side folding card.
I did masking, ink blending, embossing through a stencil, splattering and stamping on this project.
I had this christmas tree stencil for more than a month now and really wanted to try it, I'm glad I got a chance to work with it. It's a beautiful design.
I think the little splatter dots look like snow in the night sky :) The splatter was created using watered down perfect pearls
I stamped on the glittery washi tape with black staz on ink and it worked pretty well.
I've added 3 silver sequins to the right of the sentiment to finish off the project.

List of Supplies:

Paper Sweeties Stamp- Homespun Holidays
Artplorations Stencil- Christmas Trees
DCAM Stitched Ovals Nesting Dies
Iris White Cardstock 250 gsm

Post 171: Mixed Media ATCs- "She"

Hi folks :)

Hows your weekend been so far? I've been crafting a fair bit over the weekend :) I made a set of ATCs for the first time today. ATCs in case you don't know are Artist Trading Cards, these are small 2.5 by 3.5 inches in size and basically a snippet of an artist/crafter's style. The theme of today's ATCs is women, I wanted them to have an encouraging and motivating feel so I kept the titles open ended, "she is", "she can" and "she will". I recycled some sturdy packaging cardboard  to make the base of the ATCs.  I have used gelli printingstamping, stenciling, doodling and splatter on these.

List of Supplies:

Post 170: Mixed Media Mini Canvas: Be You

Hi folks!

Hows the weekend looking for you? I look forward to getting started on some new supplies and experimenting :) Today, I'd like to share a mixed media mini canvas titled "Be You", this was my first try at working on a canvas and also at using crackle texture paste and I must say I love the cracked effect. I enjoyed it a lot and hope to make more canvases in the future :)

There are many layers in the canvas i.e. gesso, texture paste, layers of color added using sprays, inks and brush pens. Stencil work was done using a brick design stencil. For added texture, I'd added some small beads and gauze. The project is embellished with a stamped butterfly, gems, flowers, buds and tendrils. There is copper colored shine and shimmer on the project due to embossingSplashes of white gesso were added at the end.

I really love the stamped sentiment that reads, "Don't let people discourage you. Just fluff your tutu and dance away." I think I will hang this canvas in my room to look at it and help me stay encouraged.
