Hi friends :)
I'd like to share something new I tried today. This is an A2 size top folding CAS birthday card.
I went for the typography/letter press look in it.
The artist whose work I was inspired by is Alan Kitching. One google search on the name reveals so many gorgeous examples of very unique and interesting work. But I must say, I found it very challenging to convert that into a card, for the longest time I did not know what to do or how to do it. So I experimented with a new techniques for me Gelli Printing and used that to create this look. I also used the word dies I had in a different way by using alphabets from different words to create varied sizes.

I loved the number of bright and bold orange and yellow color combinations that I saw in Alan Kitching's work like in "why are the arts so white", "nuclear meltdown" and "stars" so went with that color scheme with some blacks thrown in. So basically, I created some gelli print papers (A4 size) using a Gelli Arts Gelli Plate and acrylic paints. Then die cut words from these gelli print papers then cut apart the letters and pieced them together to create the words. Finally. stamped 2 of the words to complete the sentiment (partially inking the birthday so the die cut "y" could act as the y for birthday).
The sentiment reads, "Hi Wish You A Happy Birthday" I pieced the alphabets inspired by Alan K.'s work in how he makes them into a puzzle and plays with horizontal and vertical positioning of the alphabets like for example in "cross rail".
