For the August Play Inspiration, I was inspired by the theme, "Be Authentic" and the gorgeous moodboard colors. As a psychologist, authenticity is a very important theme for me because it is relevant to art as well as in clinical psychology. Through these pages, I wanted to show how important it is to be yourself, even when it is difficult to do so. Being oneself takes courage & we as individuals as well as artists/crafters need to constantly remind ourselves to do that which makes our soul & inner self happy.
Grungy Mixed Media Art Journal Spread- "Original"
Synopsis of the Process:
I created the background by collaging torn pieces of paper from old book pages (in hindi), washi tapes & fabric tapes. Then applied clear gesso to the surface and colors using distress inks, distress oxides & distress paints. Then did background stamping with Mudra Craft Stamps using distress inks and archival inks. To add more interest to the background, did background stencilling with an Art Anthology stencil using blue colored modelling paste. I wanted the background not to compete with the foreground, so I pushed it back by adding black and white gesso with a palette knife. The focal elements were fussy cut from AB Studio's Be Gentle Paper Collection. For layering, used Sizzix alteration die cuts & thread. Added some scribbles with black and white markers to add to the grungy look. Then added the titles using TH stickers & created some ink splatters. Scribbled on a grungy border in black and darkened the edges of the pages with black soot distress ink. In the end, added blue & grey Nuvo Crystal drops & a few mini beads around the focal clusters.
Look forward to seeing your beautiful work xoxo
Thanks a lot for your precious time :)
Stay Blessed!
