Thyroid Awareness Month Blog Hop

Hi friends!
Welcome to the Thyroid Awareness Month Blog Hop
Preeti Datta (aka Dutt Preety) here. Thanks a lot for visiting my blog :)
I'm very thankful for being part of this special event organized by the amazing Milka Gubo :)

January is Thyroid Awareness Month. The aim of this blog hop is to support Thyroid Awareness Month and to raise public awareness of the importance of a Thyroid Gland and problems it can cause when not working properly.

The extremely talented, Milka Gubo, is our host for this event. There are 26 designers from all over the world in this blog hop, which was from January 5th until January 30th. Each day one designer shared a handmade project on her blog. Today, 30th January, is my turn to share a project. You can find all the info. about the hop on Milka's Blog. (There are some giveaways on some of the blogs, so please do visit, comment on & follow the blogs in the blog hop list, to encourage & support the designers & the event.)

The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped endocrine gland that is located in the lower front of the neck. The thyroid’s job is to make thyroid hormones, which are secreted into the blood and then carried to every tissue in the body. Thyroid hormone helps the body use energy, stay warm and keep the brain, heart, muscles, and other organs working as they should. When this gland doesn't function properly, it can cause various symptoms and diseases, please click HERE to find more information about the same. If this gland isn't working properly, some symptoms one can experience are: fatigue, weight gain, depression, sentitivity to cold, muscle or joint aches, brain fog (including poor memory and poor concentration), non-refreshing sleep, brittle hair and nails, constipation, shortness of breath, thinning hair, PMS, significantly calloused heels, low libido and infertility. Thus, it is important to get regular medical check-ups done to ascertain if there are any issues present & be properly treated for the same

The theme of our blog hop is Thyroid. We will be sharing our handmade projects featuring butterfly, butterflies and/or blue paisley pattern. Thyroid looks like butterfly and blue paisley patterned ribbon is a new symbol of Thyroid Awareness month, so it was our choice to incorporate these elements in our handmade projects. I chose to feature a butterfly on my card.

Butterfly Card

1. Die cut the watercolour paper panel using a Winnie & Walter die
2. Created a loose watercolor background using Lindy's Gang Magical Shakers

Post 512: Craft Stamper Magazine's Take It Make It Challenge- January, 2019

Here's the beautiful prize on offer:

For the Inspiration, I've created a floral card. To check out the Craft Stamper Blog with all my teamies inspiration, please click HERE

Floral Card

I like making cards which have neutral sentiments like "sending hugs" or "thinking of you" since they can be used for many occasions. For this floral card, I blended pink distress oxides onto the edges of the scalloped rectangle die cut (watercolor paper) and then sponged on the picked raspberry distress ink through the Icraft floral stencil. Then stamped on the pretty flower from a Designs by Ryn stamp and sentiment from a HLS stamp and did watercoloring on the flower. The cardbase was stamped with a background script stamp in light grey ink. Finally, the panel was foam mounted on the cardbase.

List of Supplies:
Designs by Ryn Stamp- Flowers (flower)
Happy Little Stampers Stamp- Doodled Flowers (sentiment)
Icraft floral stencil
Hero Arts Background Cling Stamp- Thanks Script (background)
Winnie & Walter Essentials- Audrey Cutaways
Distress Inkpad- Picked Raspberry
Distress Oxide Inkpads- Picked Raspberry & Worn Lipstick
Versafine Onyx Black Mini Inkpad
Archival Inkpad- Shadow Grey
Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers
Canson Watercolor Paper
White Cardstock
Ranger's round blending tool and foams

Thanks a lot for your precious time :)

Post 511: Vintage Mixed Media Card- Inspiration for Lindy's Gang Color Challenge, January 2019

Hi friends!

Wish you & yours a Happy New Year :)

I have some happy news. I am excited to be on the Lindy's Gang Design Team!
Lindy's Gang has gorgeous sprays, pigment powders & embossing powders, they ship worldwide, to check out their store, please click HERE. Also, to get product updates & lots of inspiration, we have a vibrant Lindy's Creative Gang Facebook Group.

For January, we have a gorgeous mood board for you. There are generous prizes on offer, so please do join the challenge. All the details about the January Challenge can be found on the Lindy's Gang Blog.

Color Palette Guidelines: Mid Brown – Spring Green – Warm Grey

To enter the Color Challenge you MUST use at least 2 colors from the monthly color palette and as always you may also use black, white, neutrals or metallic colors as well! We are finding that there are so many amazing artists who are joining our challenge, that we can’t keep up with choosing winners! So, we’ll still have 5 winners of $50 gift certificates to Lindy’s, (sometimes more if we get tons of participants), and of those, 3 projects will be picked by Lindy’s for style, linking, etc, (the details are below) and 2 will be randomly drawn. Hopefully more people are encouraged to enter and we’ll get even more gorgeous projects! We just love sharing the Lindy love & thought this would be a great way to do it without anyone feeling intimidated.

For the inspiration, I've created a Vintage Mixed Media Card.

I've also used Tim Holtz paper dolls, quote chips, distress inkpads, Creative Embellishment's distressed grid stencil, Ranger's Archival Inkpads, Mudra Craft Stamps Sequins, Tacky Glue, Prima Soft Matte Gel, Thread, Buttons, Metal Gears & Mudra Craft Stamps Mini Stamps.

The Positive Vibes Hop- Vintage Art Journal Spread "Listen to Your Heart" by Dutt Preety

Happy New Year Dear Ones :)

Hi! I'm Preeti Datta (aka Dutt Preety). Welcome to The Positive Vibes Hop.
The purpose of our blog hop is to start the new year on a colourful & creative note, spread positivity & good vibes. We hope you'll enjoy the mixed media projects & pictorials we have prepared.

My Project:
Vintage Art Journal Spread
"Listen to Your Heart"

I've created a Vintage Art Journal Spread titled "Listen to Your Heart". I wanted to convey a positive message that we must follow our own heart & be brave. Creating vintage mixed media art journal pages is one of my favourite forms of art & so I wanted to start 2019 with something that truly makes my heart happy :) I've used my favourite colours- blue & green on these pages.

Pictorial:

Step 1: Applied white gesso to the pages to prime them for mixed media work, then adhered various washi tapes to the pages & applied a coat of clear gesso on top of the washi tapes.

Step 2: Adhered die cuts, thread & painter's mesh tape to the background using soft matte gel

Step 3: Mixed Fabrika Decoru's 3D gel with glitter with their Deco Topping Stones, Marbles & Crystals, to create a textured paste. Then applied this paste to the pages for texture & shine.

Step 4: To add color to the pages, used Lindy's Gang sprays in various shades of blue, green and a black to add depth. Sprayed with water to create movement and dried between each layer of colour.

Step 5: Did background stamping using archival ink & various Mudra Craft Stamps

Step 6: Used Vintage Photo Distress Ink to distress the edges of the pages, the edges of the Tim Holtz ephemera elements, paper doll & quote chips

Step 7: Created the layers using all the ephemera elements, Mudra Craft Stamps' Chipzeb, gauze, paper doll & quote chips. Adhered everything using soft matte gel/tacky glue

Step 8: For the finishing touches, darkened the edges of the pages with black soot distress ink, added a bit of shine using Prima Waxes, adhered a few gems and created white and black ink splatter.

Materials Used:
2. Mudra Craft Stamps- Stamps (Hexa Mini, Geometric Stories, Checker & Swing Girl), Chipzeb (Floral Flourish, Swirls)
3. Fabrika Decoru 3d Gel with Glitter, Deco Toppings- Marble, Crystal, Quartz Mix
4. Prima Finnabair- Vintage Silk Wax, Heavy White Gesso, Clear Gesso, Soft Matte Gel
5. Tim Holtz Quote Chips, Paper Dolls, Emporium Ephemera
6. Ranger's Distress Inkpads- Vintage Photo, Black Soot and Archival Inkpad- Jet Black
7. Fantasy Dies
8. Aleene's Tacky Glue
