Post 157: Spring Card: Cheers

Hi friends :)

I'd like to share a spring inspired card today :) This is an A2 size top folding card.  I was inspired by this beautiful card made by the amazing Shay for W & W's Rerun No. 18 Challenge. I loved the woodgrain pattern in the background and the die cut word in the center so I did  my own take on the same with the supplies I have.

Synopsis of the Process:

-First I took an A2 size white card panel, embossed it using an embossing folder to give a woodgrain texture in the background.

-Die cut the word cheers in green cardstock.

- Stamped the leaves from 2 stamp sets onto water color paper, colored them with zig markers and an aqua brush and then fussy cut them.

- Prepped the card panel by trimming it slightly and adhering it to a light yellow cardbase so that only a little strip of yellow was visible then added a strip of washi tape with diagonal green stripes at the bottom.

- Then arranged the die cut word cheers and leaves and adhered them to the card panel.

- Fussy cut some butterfly images from a pattern paper and added them to the card

-Finally, embellished the card with colored pearls to bring in all the colors from the moodboard including red

Post 156: Floral Card

Hi friends :)

I'd like to share a spring inspired card today :) This is an A2 size top folding card.  I was inspired by this beautiful card made by the awesome Vanessa Menhorn for W & W's Rerun No. 18 Challenge. I loved the design of her card, the frame and the placement of the flowers so I did my take on the same.

Synopsis of the Process:

I took the watercolor paper and created a background with zig markers and an aqua brush by adding colors in layers to give a loose organic look. (It took a while till I was happy with it although a lot of it got covered up by the flower cluster). Then I die cut the water color panel and also green cardstock to form the scalloped frame. Both of these die cuts were adhered onto the cardbase. Then I stamped the greeting in versafine ink and heat embossed the rest of the sentiment onto a snippet of black cardstock. This was adhered to the card. Then on snippets of watercolor paper, I stamped flower and leaf images with versafine onyx black ink (I usually use archival ink since its water proof but I've noticed it doesn't stamp very well on watercolor paper since its very textured and I have to keep stamping again and again, in this case I wanted nice black outlines so I went with versafine and thankfully even after watercoloring, it didnt bleed :) ) Then the images were water colored with zig markers and an aqua brush and then fussy cut. Then these fussy cut images were organized into a cluster and adhered onto the card. In the end a butterfly from a pattern paper was also added to the card to tie in the spring theme and embellish the card.

List of Supplies:

1. Winnie & Walter Stamp Set- Wishing You with Evelin T Designs

Post 155: Spring Inspired Birthday Card 1

Hi friends :)

I'd like to share with you a spring inspired birthday card today. I really love the color combination so I created a few cards inspired by the same color combo. This is a landscape style A2 size card. I was inspired by this beautiful card made by the awesome Lydia Evans for W& W's Rerun No. 18 Challenge. I loved the design of her card and how the background was stamped and the sentiment was in the center so I did my take on the same.

Synopsis of the Process:

The card panel is Canson Watercolor Paper which I die cut with a wonky stitched die. Then stamped various leaves, flower and bird images from 2 stamp sets, I mixed and matched the inks I had for the colors. Then I watercolored the leaves with zig markers and an aqua brush. For the sentiment, I die cut a snippet of black cardstock and also a snippet of vellum with rectangle stitched dies. Then heat embossed the birthday wishes greeting on the black die cut. Then I mounted the black die cut onto the vellum with foam tape and stuck the vellum to the card panel. Finally, adhered the panel to the soft purple card base.

List of Supplies:

1. Winnie & Walter Stamp Set- A tree for all seasons
2. Winnie & Walter Stamp Set- In Bloom: Renee's Leaves
3. Cutplorations Crazy Running Stitch Rectangle Die

Post 154: Spring Themed Hello Card

Hi friends :)

Last night I was making a card and tried out new techniques and supplies for it :) It is the first time I have made something like this and I like the added interest all the details provide. I think I will do it again. This is a A2 size landscape style card. This card is spring inspired and has two sentiments. One is stamped and reads "Flowers can't solve all problems but its a great place to start." and the second is a die cut "Hello".

Synopsis of the Process:

1. Stamped the sentiment, flowers and leaves onto the card panel using a new Concord and 9th stamp (mixed and matched different ink colors). Then added details like stripes and dots to some of the flowers by doing the "stamp kissing" technique. Used the leaves from the Winnie and Walter- A tree for all seasons stamp set for the stamp kissing technique. Then added white dots with a white gel pen and white highlights and shading with a color pencil.

2. Then this card panel was die cut with nesting x stitched rectangle dies. Then I die cut the word hello from the smallest rectangle panel using a sizzix die and saved all the small negatives. Now the biggest rectangle was adhered to an A2 card base with liquid glue then the second smaller rectangle was mounted on top with foam tape and then the word hello along with the negatives were inserted back into the recess and stuck down below. So I was playing with different depths. Some areas on the card design are lifted and some are pushed down. Small pieces of foam tape were adhered to the lil flaps over hanging so they got strength.

3. In the end, few enamel dots and a butterfly sequin was added to complete the spring inspired card.

List of Supplies:

1. Concord and 9th Stamp- You're my Person
2. Winnie & Walter Stamp- A tree for all seasons

Post 151: Bridal Congratulations Card

Hi friends :)

I'd like to share a CAS bridal congratulations card today :) It is 5.75 inches by 4.5 inches in size (slightly bigger than an A2 card). The color scheme is maroon and cream. I chose the color maroon because it is considered a bridal colour in India. I have dressed up the bride but still kept it simple with lots of open space to call it CAS.

Synopsis of the Process:

First I die cut the cream colored cardstock with the rectangle wonky stitched die, then with the butterfly gown die, did die cutting. Then used the negative of the die cut and stuck it down onto the cardbase. Added a few of the little butterflies from the die onto the silhouette, to dress her up. Then stamped the sentiment and flourishes in ruby red ink (performed some stamp surgery and cut up the sentiment to yield the sentiment + flourish). Then punched out a few flowers and curled them up for dimension, added a little pearl in the middle and adhered these to the card. In the end, added a pearl necklace on the bride with half pearls.

List of Supplies:

1. Lawn Fawn Scripty Sayings Stamp
2. Cutplorations- Double Running Stitching Rectangle Die
3. Gina Marie Designs Butterfly Girl Gown Die
4. Altenew Ruby Red Dye Ink
5. Small Flower punch
6. Half pearls
7. Tombow Mono Multi Glue
