Mixed Media Layout: Explore (Submission for ColourArte Dt Call)

Hi!!

Today, I have made a Mixed Media Layout titled "Explore".

This is my submission for the ColourArte DT Call 2017. You can check out their awesome products here.

The theme of this layout is vintage. I have used a vintage photo of Qutub Minar which is a World Famous Monument. The title reads, " Every Picture Tells a Story" and the subtitles read, "Travel, discover, explore the past". It is a layout in celebration of exploration, discovery and travel.
I have used water coloring to create the background and add depth and definition. And then done stencilling and background stamping. Splatter has been created with distress inks.

Synopsis of the Procedure:

1. A Vintage photograph, some sheets of old book papers, corrugated cardboard were taken and torn roughly to create a worn, deckled look. Then distress ink was sponged around the edges of these papers to create a more distressed look. All these papers were layered and adhered together.

2. The background was created with a water colored look. The color palette was browns and blues with black added for depth. Layers of color were added using prima water soluble oil pastels, distress inkpads and zig clean color real brush pens using an aqua brush, till the desired effect was achieved. Then splatter was created with a fan brush and distress ink.

3. The papers prepared in step 1 were adhered to the background created. Then stencil work was done using a blending foam and distress inks. Further interest was added, with some background stamping here and there.

4. The chipboard title (Colored with a black alcohol marker), arrow shaped die cuts and sticker words were adhered and then  gauze (which was colored with distress ink) and jute cord were added for texture.

5. In the end, a little more depth was added to some of the areas with a black zig marker and an aqua brush.

Here are a few step by step process photographs:
