Post 417 : Mixed Media Art Journal Spread- Be You

Hi friends!!

Hope you are having a pleasant Saturday. Wishing a Happy Easter to all my friends who celebrate it.

Today, I'd like to share a Mixed Media Art Journal Spread- Be You. Yesterday, I finally had some time to play with some supplies. I tried out a new stencil, "cells" by Maremismallart. Its lovely & gives a great textured look.  I was inspired by a couple of challenges & wanted to play along after a long time. The More than Words Challenge is about the word "Comfortable" & for me, being comfortable means being yourself, being comfortable in your own skin & to just be your own self without any pretension or facade. Hence, I chose the title as "Be You" The color scheme here is also inspired by the MTW challenge. I used Lindy's color of the month, Hi Maintenance Magenta Shimmer Spray, for all the coloring. Also, added a little black, Screamin' Banshee Black Shimmer Spray, for contrast.  For priming the surface of the book pages, I used Prima's Heavy White Gesso, for texture I added Prima's Modelling paste through the cells stencil, also added black thread. Did background stamping with Archival inks & Ranger stamps. For the focal element & layering, I used bits & pieces from my stash, Tim Holtz chit chat stickers, pattern papers, burlap, a few sequins, die cuts, fabric flowers, threads, twine & a bit of crochet lace my mom made. In the end, distressed the edges of the pages & created ink splatter.

Post 322: Mixed Media Altered Bottle

Hi friends!

I'd like to share a Mixed Media Altered Bottle today. This was made for a GD post at Madras Bazaar, all the details can be checked out here. I love the crackle effect on it :)

Process & Supplies:

1. Took an empty perfume bottle and applied 2 coats of Prima's heavy white gesso on it to prep the surface
2. Using Prima's 3D matte gel adhered a few metal charms to the bottle.
3. Applied Prima's white crackle paste to the bottle and let it air dry so as to get the desired crackle effect
4. Added Prima finnabair mega and regular art stones at some places using 3D matte gel & brushed on some white gesso on the charms and art stones
5. Once everything was dry, applied color using 3 of the Madras Bazaar Pearl Ink sprays– Charcoal Black, Vibrant Green & Shock Blue
6. To finish the project, applied Prima's Opal Magic Wax- Vintage Silk to some of the raised surfaces using my fingers.

Here are some photos of the altered project:

I am playing along with the following challenges:

Post 231: Floral Card (Shine)

Hi friends :)

How are you ? Any plans for the weekend ? I'm still under the weather and trying to recover from the flu. A few new supplies got delivered today and I was so excited to play with them. I sat on the bed and crafted there only because I didn't have the energy to get up and work on the craft table. I've got a floral card to share today. This is a standard A2 sized top folding card. I enjoyed watercoloring it with zig markers and an aqua brush. The sentiment is a grungy one which I really like, it reads "shine" I thought this will be a nice encouraging card to send to a friend to pep her spirits :)

List of Supplies:

Stamplorations Stamp- Blossom Sprays 2
Stamplorations Stamp- Art Marks
Stamplorations Stamp- Winged Things
Cutplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Die
