Fall inspired card

Hi folks!!

So the coffee lovers craziness continues. I have created another card. I wanted this one to be totally different. The color scheme and the dried flowers are inspired by the "fall" theme. Also, I tried to recreate a rustled up leaf by first water coloring the doll with zig brush pens and then applying a lot of water to let them bleed, then I crumpled it up. The sentiment is meant to add a fun, naughty feel to the card. Wanted to try something new :)

Supplies Used:

1. Megan-Julie Nutting Stamp
2. Jet black archival inkpad
3. Stampoholic
4. Kraft, rust and iris card stock
5. Dried flowers
6. Martha Stewart alphabets punch
7. Zig Brush Pens
8. Gelly Rolls Metallic
9. Martha Stewart Doily lace border punch
10. Foam adhesive tape
11. Usual supplies of silicone glue, scale, spray bottle etc

Thanks for your time!

Layout 1

Hi Folks!!

So it is almost the end of September and I have created a layout for the first time today.
The color scheme and the twig of dried flowers in my project were both inspired by fall. I have showcased the recipe for "Rajma" (in Hindi) or Kidney Beans Curry which is a favorite in my family. It is very culturally significant and so I wanted to focus on the recipe. As a child I really liked it when my mother prepared rice with kidney beans curry and so the sentiments I included in the layout describe just that, those moments for me were family time, happy memories and hence, moments of delight. And I truly feel that good food which is made with love using family recipes does nourish the soul and brings people together.

I tried to give it a vintage look with many textures and materials so that there was a multi-layered effect. I have included multiple elements like buttons, diecuts, jute twine, paper flowers, wool, burlap, and dried flowers in this project.

Here are some pictures of the layout.

Supplies Used:

1. Iris, black, brown and red cardstock
2. Corrugated orange cardstock
3. Jute Twine and burlap
4. Distress Ink- Vintage photo
5. Red and white buttons
6. Dried twig of small flowers
7. Gina Marie scalloped stitched circles die

10. Crumpled kraft packing paper
11. White wool

Wedding Invitation Card (Merging of Cultures)

Hey folks!!

Today I share a card I had a difficult time thinking of ideas for. Since it is an invitation card for a multi-cultural wedding where the groom is from the sikh faith and the bride is from the christian faith. So I had the tough task of customization and showcasing the merging of cultures.

It has taken me a while to get the whole project done since the first sample I made got spoilt inadvertently by the spilling of adhesive :(

So I used the color scheme of maroon, white and gold because maroon is a happy color usually worn by brides in the sikh community and white is the traditional color of christian wedding dresses. To give the card a celebratory and ornate look the gold was added. I customized the cheery lynn wedding vows die cut so that the groom looked like a sikh and the girl a christian.

Here are a few pictures of the project which consists of a wedding invitation card with tags inside for all the occasions. There is also a coordinating envelope to go with the theme.

Supplies Used:

1. Cheery Lynn Wedding Vows Die
2. Spellbinders Fancy Tags 2 Die
3. Spellbinders Corner Flourish Die
4. Spellbinders Splendid Embossing Folder
5. Sizzix Bigz Tattered Florals Die and Tags die
6. Prima Parisian Lace Doily Die
7. Maroon Textured Cardstock, Golden Cardstock and Irish Cardstock
8. Half pearls- golden and white colored
9. White organza ribbon
10. Stampoholic
11. Jet black archival ink
12. Distress Ink- Festive berries
13. White organza ribbon
14. All the usual supplies of silicone glue, scissors, scale, blending foam and tool etc
15. Used the sizzix big shot plus for die cutting and embossing
16. Small red crystals
17. White lace
18. Flourishes stencil

You Are My Hero Card (Thank you to our soldiers)

Hey folks!!

I created a card for our brave soldiers to thank them for their selfless services to our country. The intent was to help bring a smile to their faces and perhaps boost their spirits since they are stationed so far off from their homes, facing perils everyday, all of this to keep you and me safe! So thank you to all our dear soldiers from all the armed forces. We salute you!

Here is a picture of the card.

I had to remove the sparkly foam flowers since glitter is not allowed to be sent via mail to sensitive areas. But took a quick picture of the card before I had to remove and replace the flowers with plain paper ones.

Supplies used:

1. Stamps from Mudra (Dad set), Sentiments and corners set from itsy bitsy, Docrafts gorjuss stamp
2. Blue, pink and iris cardstock
3. Glitter foam
4. Sizzix bigz tattered florals die and gina marie stitched ovals die
5. Jet black ranger archival ink
6. Stampoholic
7. Zig brush markers
8. Ranger distress ink- Peacock feathers
9. Usual supplies of adhesives like silicone glue, fevicol, scale, rag, spray bottle, scissors etc

Diwali Card

Hi Folks!! I made a diwali card inspired by a few challenges in September a few days back but since I was not blogging back then, I have been able to write about it only now. So here are the details of my simple and I like to think cute :) diwali card. This card was sent along with others to Indian Army soldiers as a note of thanks and to help uplift their spirits. Hope it brings a smile to their faces!

Supplies Used:
1. Iris, Black, Green, Brown and Green shades of Cardstock,
2. Sequins
3. Peek-a-boo designs Renne Diwali Stamp
4. Zig Brush Markers
5. Golden packing paper
6. Uniball gold colored pen
7. Stitched Scalloped Circles die and Spellbinders borders die
8. Usual supplies like adhesives, scissors, silicone glue etc

Procedure:
1. I cut all the cardstock into apt sizes and using the big shot plus got my die cuts.
2. Stamped the Image and sentiment onto the cutouts. Used the Stampoholic tool for stamping.
3. Colored into the stamped image using zig markers. Highlighted the dress with a few gold dots since in Diwali, people wear bright and festive clothes.
4. Layered the die cuts and added a strip of gold colored paper on the left of the brown card base. Crinkled the golden strip at regular intervals to get a 3-D effect and add some bling and glitter to the Diwali card.
5. Added some sequins
6. Rounded the edges of the card using a corner rounder tool.

Thanks for your time! Please do leave me a comment so I know you've seen this! Otherwise I really do not get to know if this has reached anyone. Stay Blessed :)

Vintage Antique card Inspired by the colors of Fall

Hi folks!! Hope you are doing well and everything is going good in your crafty world. Today, I have created a vintage look card (working through the night), I've tried to use new techniques for the first time. The color scheme was inspired by the fall season. And I tried to add positive, warm sentiments to encourage the receiver of the card.

Here are some pictures of the card.

 Supplies used:

1. Used the Alphabets stamp by Mudra stamps
2. Raving Rain stamp set from CraftyScrappers
3. Here & Now stamp set from itsy bitsy
4. Corrugated cardstock, Iris & Brown cardstock
5. Ranger Distress inks- vintage photo, evergreen bough and spiced marmalade
6. Round blending tool and foams
7. Jute twine
8. Antique metal charms- teapot and cup
9. Stampoholic- regular
10. Martha Stewart Swirl Lace corner punch
11. Fevicol glue, silicone glue and foam tape
12. Ranger Archival black ink
13. Acrylic Block
14. A pair of Scissors
15. Diecuts from Gina Marie Dies (Stitched Scalloped Circles Die and the Stitched Square Die)

Procedure:

1. I deckled the edges of the die cuts and tore off few edges then distressed the die cuts.
2. Stamped the sentiments onto these diecuts with black archival ink.
3. Tore the corrugated cardstock (to give it a distressed vintage look) into the apt size and then distressed the edges.
4. Then I stuck the diecut sentiments on the corrugated CS with foam tape.
5. Cut the Iris CS to a suitable size and then punched the corners with the MS corner punch. Deckled the edges of it with scissors and then applied distress ink to it. Blended the colors.
6. Then used another piece of hand torn Iris CS and distressed it with ranger's spiced marmalade ink. Then stamped the words tea and coffee in the background using the Mudra alphas stamp and vintage photo distress ink.
7. Then I stuck the layers together with adhesive and adhered this layered piece to the brown colored card base, whose corners were rounded.
8. The twine was added to give a more tied together-distressed-vintage-antique look.
9. In the end the teapot and cup antique metal charms were added for a bit of pizzazz.

Do leave some comments, helps me know that someone out there reads this and is following a beginner's crafting journey :)

Till next time!
Stay Blessed!!

Teacher's Day Tag

Hi folks! This is my first blog post and I've been delaying it for oh! so long. This blogging thing had me thrown and so finally I have decided to sit down and write. (Here's hoping this goes up and no technical glitches happen :p). I'm posting my first ever tag here. Actually happy with how it turned out.

Here is the procedure and list of mistakes I made and then covered up :)

1. Tag was made by die cutting iris cardstock using the sizzix tags die.
2. Distressed the tag with the vintage photo distress ink by Ranger.
3. Stamped the alphabets in the background with a Kaisercraft stamp using the peacock feathers color in distess ink.
4. Then I tried to stamp the books (Peekaboo designs stamp- teacher's day) directly onto the tag using archival black ink but messed up so then I stamped it onto some scrap red colored paper and since the result was good, I fussy cut it and pasted it onto the tag. The teacher was stamped from a stamp in the same set.
5. Then I stamped the Thank You badge from an inkadinkado stamp set and fussy cut it. To lend it some pizzazz I first pasted a piece of black cardstock on the back and then added the badge with some foam tape to give it dimension.
6. Since everything looked quite plain at this point I added the die cut leaves from a Cheery Lynn die behind the badge to make the words stand out.
7. Lastly, I tied 2 pieces of ribbons at the top to finish it off. (I tried adding an eyelet but the Kangaro Eyelet setter I have doesn't seem to cater to bigger holes, so I left it as is. Will have to buy a Crop-a-dile for the same.)
