Hi Friends!
Hows the week looking so far? Mine is going great, I have been organizing and cleaning my craft space, it is a tiring process but much needed. I will slowly go through the room by taking up mini areas to work on instead of all of it together, otherwise, it becomes too overwhelming for me. I've gotten the stamps and inks kind of sorted for now. Will move onto the cardstock next.
I'd like to share a Clean and Simple One Layer Card today. This is an A2 size top folding card. Boy! oh! Boy! I have to tell you, one layer cas cards scare me because it is so tough to get them right and working directly on the card base is so difficult for me. So I challenged myself to do it today :)
I wanted it to have a summer theme so went from yellows and oranges into blues near the word "coolest". I have done Heat Embossing in black and white here along with Distress ink and Distress oxide Ink blending, this was a resist technique since heat embossed images resist distress ink. I wiped off the ink that sat on top of the embossed letters. This is a masculine card for father's day so I added triangle borders to the ink blended panel because with masculine cards I think geometrical designs go so well. I added the word "pop" by hand using an embossing pen because I thought it was a nice play on words and made for a cute pun, "pop"- "popsicle". The sentiment reads, "Dad, you're the coolest pop ever". I also colored in some of the triangles black and blue for added interest. I'm so happy I kept the card totally flat by adding no more embellishments and was true to the CAS OLC spirit.
List of Supplies:
Uniko Stamps- Background Builders: Triangulate (for the triangular borders)
Lawn Fawn Stamps- Best Pun (for the sentiment)
Distress Mini Inkpads- Chipped Sapphire, Broken China, Peacock Feathers
Distress Oxide Inkpads- Fossilized Amber and Spiced Marmalade
Memento Mini Inkpad- Tuxedo Black
Versamark Watermark Mini Inkpad
Homemade Emboss Buddy
Ranger's Super Fine Detail Embossing Powders- Black and White
Ranger's Embossing Pen (for writing POP)
Black Sharpie- Fine Point (for coloring the triangles)
Blue Zig Marker (for coloring the triangles)
Masking Tape
Ranger's Heat Tool
Here is a photograph of the card:
I am playing along with the following challenges:
1. Uniko Challenge #41 (This is a masculine card for father's day)
2. Less is More #332 (This is a OLC and the popsicle is the sweet thing)
3. AAA Cards: CAS game #92- Resist Technique (used emboss resist here)
Thanks for your time :)
Love reading your precious comments.
Stay Blessed.
Terrific card from you this week Preeti! The two geometric borders give perfect balance to the freedom of the ombré panel which has been superbly blended. Great colour choice too. You may be scared of one layer cards but this one is an absolute triumph! Thanks so much for joining us at Less is More xx
