CAS card: Rain or Shine

Hi friends!

I made a couple of CAS cards a couple of days back but haven't been able to blog about it till now, so I decided to share them here. I was using techniques that are new to me and it was fun experimenting. I used the "ink smooshing" technique in which I dabbed distress inkpads on a spare piece of acetate and then light spritzed it with water then smooshed the acetate on my card to create an organic, water coloring effect. I wanted to show the opposite colors of rain and sunshine (blues and yellows) and after ink smooshing I did some additional dabbing of distress ink with my paint brush. Then I heat embossed the clouds in white and the sentiment in black. I must admit that making a one layer CAS card was difficult because I wanted to add more (embellishments) but I had to convince myself to keep it very minimalistic and simple. The stamp set I chose was such that the sentiment is very romantic and lovey-dovey :) and even though valentine's day is gone, we can always find ways to express our love for special people in our life!

Supplies Used:

1. Iris cardstock 250 gsm
2. Tim holtz distress mini inkpads- mustard seed, spiced marmalade, peacock feathers and chipped sapphire
3. Versamark watermark Inkpad
4. Ranger Fine Black Embossing powder
5. Zing White opaue embossing powder
6. Water spray bottle
7. Paint brush
8. Hot Off the Press clear stamp- rain or shine
9. Acrylic block
10. Ranger heat tool

Here are a few images of the finished card:
