Hi Friends!
Today I made a couple of art journal pages in the mixed media style. I was inspired by the theme of "valentines", "love" and "togetherness". While browsing through an old magazine (Reader's Digest October, 2016 issue) , I saw a picture that caught my eye, it is the picture of a loving old couple out on a walk, in the woods, I thought it was a very sweet picture. I guess that's what love is all about, two people who spend their lives together, through the thicks and thins, spending quality time with each other even in their old age. Hence, I decided to create the journal spread around the photo. I wanted it to depict a life shared between 2 people, all the memories, cheer, joy, basically a celebration of togetherness.
Here are a few pictures:
Synopsis of Process:
After applying white gesso to the pages, I did some stenciling (with the w & w- do you see what I see creative screening) followed by background stamping. The stamps I chose for the background were of friendship and love words and a clock (to depict time that has passed). I die cut leaves from the sizzix die and sentiments from the winnie and walter dies and sizzix dies. Then I stamped some words on the dusty attic chipboard for interest, stamped and colored the altenew flowers and leaves and then fussy cut them. I also printed some digi images of butterflies and fussy cut them. Then I assembled all the die cuts and images, layering them till I was satisfied with the look. Then I used Lindy's stamp gang sprays for adding color. I added sequins for some glitter, black paint around the edges of the pages to give definition and in the end splatters of black and pink sprays and white gesso.
Supplies Used:
Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays - Maintenance Magenta, Pretty in Pink Pink, Blazing Black and Frozen Jack Frost
Prima Finnabair Rubber stamp -Vintage clock
Momenta wood mounted stamp-Friendship and love words
Heavy White Gesso- Prima
Ranger's Archival Jet Black Inkpad
Tropical Gelatos
Sizzix Dies- (bigz) Garden greens, celebration and friendship words
Sequins
Ranger Distress Mini Inkpads- Victorian Velvet and Picked Raspberry
Rangers Round Blending Tool and Foams

Stay Blessed.
