With Love from the North Pole - Mixed Media Card

Hi Friends!!

I'm so glad you have taken the time to visit me here, thanks a lot :)
I wanted to share with you a mixed media card I made.
I wanted it to be winter themed expressing love and care so that I could use it for any occasions like maybe giving to a loved one or as a holiday card. I have kept the colors as white and red to go with those themes of love and holidays :) The scene created is of a penguin who is sending love and hugs from the north pole (with hearts wrapped as presents) where there is lots of ice, snowfall and loads of snowflakes! :)

There is a lot of sparkle and shine on the card but unfortunately it doesn't show up well in the photographs, the hearts are made from glitter paper and the snow and icicles have stickles on them.

Synopsis of the Process:

This is a side folding 5 by 7 inches card and I used the main panel of red paper with pretty snowflakes from the DCWV evergreen stack, this was distressed on the edges and torn at one place to give a weathered look. The penguin and his accessories were stamped from the W & W Penguin mini stamp set with Ranger's Jet black archival ink and then colored with zig clean color real brush pens and an aqua brush, some glitter was added to his muffler. 2 whimsical looking hearts were hand drawn and cut from the whitish glitter paper in the DCWV Mariposa Paper Stack. The sentiment was stamped from the Winnie & Walter penguin set in Versafine Onyx Black ink and then heat embossed with Ranger's fine detail black embossing powder. The hugs is a die cut from the Winnie & Walter Cutaways and it was die cut 3 times. The 1st hugs was colored completely with Tim Holtz worn lipstick distress ink using a round blending tool and foam then the second die cut was colored lightly and the third one was kept white, then the 3 hugs die cuts were stuck in such a way so they give a gradient/shadow effect. 2 red bows and buttons were die cut using the Poppy stamps fluffy bow and stitched buttons dies. The stitched buttons were altered slightly with silver stickles and pearls to give the look of snowflakes. All the die cuts and stamped images were arranged on the mat and stuck down with Tom multi aqua glue, the penguin was popped up with foam adhesive. Some pearl string was added in such a way that it looked like it was going off the page to give added dimension. The textured snow icicles on top and the snow on the bottom were painted on using Prima White gesso and silver stickles. In the end, snow fall was depicted by splashing with watered down white gesso using a fan brush.
