Post 327: Mixed Media Layout- Enjoy the Journey

Hi friends !

I'd like to share a Mixed Media Layout- "Enjoy the Journey" This was part of my November DT work for Bob n Betty, all the details can be found here. I was inspired by the challenge over on the More than Words Challenge blog with the theme of "Outdoors" and "Woodgrain", so I took a wood grain pattern paper for my layout and for the outdoors I depicted journey and travelling. I have always wanted to travel to France and enjoy their beautiful green country side and that was my inspiration. I wanted it to have a vintage look so stuck to shades of brown and neutrals with a little pink. 

Synopsis of the Process: 

-Prepared the pattern paper with clear and heavy white gesso.
-Did background stamping and stenciling and heat embossed in white.
-Heat embossed the chipboards in black.
-Layered fussy cut vintage images, burlap, gauze & jute string to form the composition.
-Added color with sprays and a few details like doodling and borders with white acrylic paint.

-Darkened the edges of the page and added brown and white splatter at the end.

Post 290: Vintage Mixed Media Layout- Forever

Hi friends :)

I'd like to share a Vintage Mixed Media Layout titled Forever. This was for my October DT project at Bob n Betty papers, all the details can be checked out here. 

I’ve depicted a vintage wedding here. I was inspired by all the "delicate flowers, net & soft colors  in these papers". Essentially, clear gesso was applied on the background (to prep the surface and not hide the beautiful designs of the paper) then color was added with ink sprays. Background stamping was done and a few stamped designs were embossed in white. Then, the wedding photo was framed within an embossed mdf frame. Pearls were adhered to the frame to make it the focal point. Lots of flowers from the paper pack were fussy cut and used for embellishment and layering. I’ve added gauze fabric, burlap string and vintage lace for texture and interest. I've also used a doily to keep with the delicate theme. White splatter was created to bring the design together.

Post 130: Mixed Media Card (The Sands of Time)

Hi friends!

Thanks for visiting my blog :) I'd like to share a vintage card today which is inspired by Indian Mughal History, I call it the Sands of Time, the title also happens to be a book by Sidney Sheldon, I remember reading it as a teenager and thoroughly enjoying it. This is a side folding 6 by 6 size mixed media card.

Synopsis of the process:

The card panel is a pattern paper from the Papericious Incredible India paper pad which was cut slightly smaller than the card base. Then its edges were deckled using a distress tool. Then a couple of images from the same paper pad - Shah Jahan and Taj Mahal were fussy cut. A few die cuts (vintage clock, leaves) along with some strips and strings of burlap and gauze were layered along with the fussy cut images and adhered with tombow glue. Further, some colored texture paste was applied through the gothic stencil to give more dimension. The paste was colored by mixing it with 2 color sprays. Some shading was done to the fussy cut images using a black zig  marker and an aqua brush. Then Shah Jahan's image was decorated with gems and jewels and a big jewel and feather were added to his head turban. The sentiment is from a martha stewart punch, the alphabets were colored with distress inks (to give a vintage worn out look) and then arranged and adhered to the card. A 3-D flower was added to Shah Jahan's hand for added interest.
