Post 521: CAS Card- Glimmer of Light (Inspiration for Craft Stamper Magazine's Take It Make It Challenge- February, 2019)

For the inspiration, I've created a Clean & Simple (CAS) Card. I wanted it to have a positive message. I die cut Canson Watercolor paper using Winnie & Walter's Essentials: Audrey Cutaways to create the panel then created a loose watercolor background using Lindy's Gang Magical Shakers- Guten Tag Teal, Time Travel Teal & Bavarian Blue. I diluted the colors a lot to get a soft look. Once the background was dry, I die cut the dove using Paper Smooches Dove die and black cardstock & adhered it using Tombow multi glue. The sentiment was stamped using Visible Image Stamp- Glimmer of Light and Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Finally, the panel was foam mounted on an A2 sized white card base.

January is Thyroid Awareness Month. The aim of this blog hop is to support Thyroid Awareness Month and to raise public awareness of the importance of a Thyroid Gland and problems it can cause when not working properly.

The extremely talented, Milka Gubo, is our host for this event. There are 26 designers from all over the world in this blog hop, which was from January 5th until January 30th. Each day one designer shared a handmade project on her blog. Today, 30th January, is my turn to share a project. The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped endocrine gland that is located in the lower front of the neck. The thyroid’s job is to make thyroid hormones, which are secreted into the blood and then carried to every tissue in the body. Thyroid hormone helps the body use energy, stay warm and keep the brain, heart, muscles, and other organs working as they should. When this gland doesn't function properly, it can cause various symptoms and diseases, please click HERE to find more information about the same. If this gland isn't working properly, some symptoms one can experience are: fatigue, weight gain, depression, sentitivity to cold, muscle or joint aches, brain fog (including poor memory and poor concentration), non-refreshing sleep, brittle hair and nails, constipation, shortness of breath, thinning hair, PMS, significantly calloused heels, low libido and infertility. Thus, it is important to get regular medical check-ups done to ascertain if there are any issues present & be properly treated for the same. 

The theme of our blog hop is Thyroid. We will be sharing our handmade projects featuring butterfly, butterflies and/or blue paisley pattern. Thyroid looks like butterfly and blue paisley patterned ribbon is a new symbol of Thyroid Awareness month, so it was our choice to incorporate these elements in our handmade projects. I chose to feature a butterfly on my card. 

Butterfly Card

Process:

1. Die cut the watercolour paper panel using a Winnie & Walter die 

2. Created a loose watercolor background using Lindy's Gang Magical Shakers

3. Did background stamping to create some texture using a Visible Image Stamp & distress oxide

4. Die cut the butterfly and word using Cutplorations dies & white cardstock, adhered these die cuts to the panel using Tombow Multi glue

5. Embellished the card with a half pearl 

6. In the end, foam mounted the panel on an A2 sized white card base.

Post 421: Inspiration for Craft Stamper Magazine's TIMI Challenge- April

Craft Stamper Magazine's Take it Make it Challenge is in full swing. It is an ANYTHING GOES stamping challenge, so please do join in with your lovely entries for a chance to win beautiful prizes and also a chance to be published in the magazine & be a Guest Designer!! 

For today's Inspiration Post at Craft Stamper, I made a motivational card :) To visit & see all the beautiful projects, the DT made for you, please click HERE. I love meaningful quotes. I really like the quote used here, "Don't Let The Rain Dull Your Sparkle". For this card, I used a lot of supplies I hadn't used before, like Catherine Pooler Inks, a couple of new Visible Image stamps & a Prima stencil. I always like it when I'm able to use never-before-used-supplies. 

For the card, I used ink smooshing to create an organic looking background and then did background stenciling & stamping. Then stamped the image & sentiment, created black ink splatter, distressed the edges of the panel, foam mounted it on the black mat & finally adhered this to the white card base (4.5 by 5.75 inches)

Post 386: Craft Stamper Take It Make It Challenge (January, 2018)

Hi friends :)

Happy & excited to share that I'm on the Design Team of Craft Stamper Magazine's TIMI Challenge. Its a wonderful challenge with amazing prizes & lots of inspiration. Would be awesome if you try it out too, please do read the rules so your entries are eligible. It is an ANYTHING GOES STAMPING CHALLENGE! how cool is that, right?

I made a card for the Inspiration post. It features Visible Image Stamps and as luck would have it, Visible Image is sponsoring the prize for January! To check out my card and also the beautiful inspiration by the DT, PLEASE CLICK HERE. 

Synopsis of the Process: I die cut the panel using Canson Watercolor Paper & a Winnie & Walter die and then stamped the eye and sentiment in black. Post 346: Mixed Media Motivational Card (shine)

Hi folks!

I'd like to share a Mixed Media Motivational Card today :) I love the sentiment on this card which reads, "don't let someone dim your light simply because its shining in their eyes"

For this motivational card, I did gelli printing using the Icraft grid design stencil and then die cut the gelli print. Then distressed the panel with yellow and orange hued distress inks, stamped on the sentiment and added the die cut butterfly.

Post 334: Mixed Media Art Journal Page- Just be Happy

Hi friends!

I'd like to share a Mixed Media Art Journal Page- "Just be Happy". This is part of my DT work for Bob n Betty, all the details can be found here. 

Synopsis of the Process:

-Applied clear gesso to prep the decoupage sheet, then did watercoloring with Gansai Tambi watercolors.
-Did background stamping and stenciling with archival ink.
-Added the embellishments and textural elements including the stamped and colored butterfly, heat embossed flourish chipboards, gauze, gems and pearls.
-Stamped the title "Just be Happy" and did additional background stamping.
-Added Tim Holtz stickers as secondary sentiments, "Be your beautiful self", "Use your wings" and "Focus on the good".
-Added details with a white gel pen and white acrylic paint.
-Deckled the edges of the sheet and adhered it to an A4 black cardstock
-Created white and black splatter in the end.

Post 329: Mixed Media Butterfly Card

Hi friends!

I'd like to share a Mixed Media Butterfly Card today :)

Synopsis of the Process:

For this Butterfly card I created texture using the checks design stencil and Prima's modeling paste. Then sprinkled on pigment powders and sprayed them with water to dissolve the pigment, create movement and blend the colors. Then stamped the butterfly but since it was stamping on texture, it didn't stamp perfectly, so I created a loose-watercolored look by using a black zig marker and an aqua brush. Stamped in the background for added interest. Used Tim Holtz stickers for the quotes "Today is full of possibilities", "life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful" and "look on the bright side". Then embellished the butterfly with a gem and in the end created some black and white splatter.

Post 305: Sea Themed Mixed Media Tag

Hi friends :)

I'd like to share a Sea Themed Mixed Media Tag today. This was part of my DT work for Bob n Betty. All the details can be found here. For this tag, I used chipboard as the base and then for texture added snippets of faux leather, gesso, art stones & gauze. The images & sentiment were stamped using the Visible Image- Dare to Swim stamp. Watercoloring was done to add color using local pigment powders and zig markers. A layer of Glossy Accents was added to the Jelly Fish to give it shine. Glass glitter was also applied using Prima's 3d Matte gel. The edges of the tag were distressed with black soot distress ink and some seam binding was colored with the same colors to add to the top of the tag. In the end, a few dew drops were added to give the look of water droplets.
