Post 237: CAS Diwali Card

Hi Friends :)

The weekend is here :) woo hoo!! The weather here is really quite stifling, being very hot and humid so we will all stay indoors and since I am still recovering from the flu, no plans. What about you? Anything exciting happening with you? I'm sorry I haven't been posting too often on the blog in the past couple of weeks, not being well really doesn't agree with me. Hopefully, another week and the bug will be gone for good (fingers crossed). 

I'd like to share a Clean and Simple Card I made a few days back but did not share online. This is 5 by 7 inches in size and is a festival card for Diwali. It is the festival of lights here in India and is one of the biggest events in our year since it is the time for family, food, shopping and gifts. The elephant image you see here is of our god, Lord Ganesha. He is the bringer of good luck and Hindus worship him to bring prosperity and happiness at the beginning of anything like buying a new house or car etc.

Procedure:

1. Die cut white cardstock using the oval die and then using a round blending tool and foams, sponged distress oxide around the edges of the die cut to get an ombre look. (Tip: Use a light touch and use circular motions)

2. Taped down the oval die cut with some micropore tape/masking tape and then taped down the stencil on top so that it does not shift. Then sponged on the 3 distress oxide inks through the design. Started with the lightest color.

3. Stamped the sentiment using the red distress oxide ink and then adhered the die cut to the card base. In the end, added  gold sequins for a touch of bling.

Post 218: Floral Thanks Card

Hi friends :)

Hope you are having a good start to the weekend. I have spent most of my time crafting for the past couple of days. My desk and shelves have become messy because of all the projects. I will have to take the time to clear everything and sort through things so everything is better organized. A clean space helps me feel uncluttered and motivated to create. But I must admit, the cleaning and organizing part is difficult, time consuming and soo tiring! (therefore, I avoid it as long as possible). Ah well, you gotta do what you gotta do, eh? Also, I have a small crafty giveaway running through the month of July with 2 prizes on offer. Its open world-wide. In case, you are interested, all the details are here. 

Today, I'd like to share a Clean and Simple Floral card. This is a side folding 5 by 7 inch card. I stamped the script background on the oval panel (watercolor paper) with yellow archival ink with a Hero Arts stamp and then stamped some butterflies. (I wanted the tone on tone look with a bit of interest with respect to the scripty background.) Then I created a yellow water color wash using an aqua brush and zig markers. Then stamped the floral images from a Winnie & Walter stamp set. The sentiment is stamped on labels which were water colored in hues of pink and blue. Finished off the card with a few blue crystals.

Post 172: CAS Christmas Card

Hi friends :)

Hope you had a good weekend and have a great week ahead.
It is very hot in Delhi. Despite that, I think I prefer summers to winters.

Onto crafting, I'd like to share a Clean and Simple Christmas Card today.
This is a 5 by 7 inches side folding card.
I did masking, ink blending, embossing through a stencil, splattering and stamping on this project.
I had this christmas tree stencil for more than a month now and really wanted to try it, I'm glad I got a chance to work with it. It's a beautiful design.
I think the little splatter dots look like snow in the night sky :) The splatter was created using watered down perfect pearls
I stamped on the glittery washi tape with black staz on ink and it worked pretty well.
I've added 3 silver sequins to the right of the sentiment to finish off the project.

Post 138: Oval Floral Card

Hi Friends!!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog, I truly appreciate it :)

I'd like to share a spring themed oval shaped floral card today :) I have never created an oval shaped card so this was lots of fun to do. The colors used here are pinks, yellows, greys and v light brown. I love the soft water colored look created in the background :)

Synopsis of the process:

I have used stitched oval shape nesting dies for this. The card panel is canson watercolor paper on which a water colored background of a gradient of spring colors was created with zig markers and an aqua brush. Then the flowers and leaves were stamped from the winnie & walter stamp set- a tree for all seasons (used the small stamps in that set) to create the floral clusters using a mix of pink, yellow and grey colored inks from my stash. Flower centers and highlights were added to some of the images using memento ink pens. The sentiment was then stamped with archival ink- magenta hue color and 3 enamel dots were added to finish the card.
