Halloween shaker card

Hi folks!

Today I created my first shaker card. It was inspired by the Halloween theme! I loved incorporating spooky elements into it. I kept the color scheme as halloween inspired so there were reds, oranges, purples, blacks and white.

Here are a few pictures of the card

Process and Supplies Used:

1. I die cut some scrap pieces of purple and white CS and a piece of acetate with the Stitched Circles Die by Gina Marie designs. I die cut a scrap piece of orange CS 2 sizes smaller with the stitched circles die (this was the piece on which I stamped the monster and heat embossed BOO). I also die cut a red CS with the scalloped circle die by Gina Marie designs.

2. I did stamping with the Crazy Monsters stamp set by Mudra using archival jet black ink. The BOO was heat embossed (twice) with versamark watermark ink and lemon yellow colored super fine embossing powder by ranger. I embossed it twice because I wanted the BOO to really pop out. The stamped orange die cut was pasted on the purple die cut.

3. I prepared the shaker elements by drawing a few ghosts on scrap pieces of white CS and fussy cutting them. I also punched out little bats with scraps of black CS and gave them golden colored eyes with the uniball gold pen. (The punch I had was of flying hearts but since it looked so similar to a flying bat I cut off the end part of the heart and poof! I had myself a flying bat.)

(Converted flying heart to flying bats)

4. Then I created the shaker card by sticking the acetate sheet on the back of the white die cut and then adding foam tape carefully all around it. I put it in 2 layers to give the elements enough space to shake around. I brushed the corners of the foam tape with some powder so that the shaker elements did not stick to the inside part. Then I added the bats, ghosts, some purple and orange glitter, black, silver and copper colored sequins to the back of the acetated sheet and then I placed the purple die cut onto of it and burnished its edges to ensure the foam caught hold of it. Then I flipped it over. This was pasted onto the red scalloped circle die cut.

5. The edges of my shaker card were raise and the foam showed through. So to hide that and add an additional spooky element, I cut a strip of black CS and cut out long finger like projects from it and pasted it around the shaker. So it looks like those black fingers are coming to get you!

6. Then I prepared a piece of white CS (6 by 6 inches) by tearing it roughly in various spots. I drew a brick wall shape on it with vintage photo cube ink pad. Then I distressed this CS with festive berries and vintage photo, spraying it with water, dabbing with a cloth till the time I was happy with the old wall look. .

7. Then with the WRMK glue pen i drew the shape of a spider web on the top right and heat embossed it with American Crafts White embossing powder. (This took a while since the coating of embossing powder was quite thick since I used glue). I got the perfect thick protuding look (with bubbles at certain spots) to the spider web that I wanted.

8. Then I pasted the shaker card to the wall CS and wrote Happy Halloween on the top with the golden uniball pen and painted around it with red and purple zig brush pens to give it a spooky look. Then this wall CS was pasted onto the red cardbase (tilted it a little for interest) and I pasted 3 black pipe cleaners from a children's DIY spider kit I had. These look like the spider is right there.

Thanks for your time! Please do leave your comments! Love reading them.
Till next time. Stay blessed and happy crafting!
