Post 119: Art Journal Page- Life is Beautiful

Hi friends :)

I'd like to share an art journal page I created. It is a spring themed page. I wanted there to be limited color on the page so that whatever color is there stands out and hence, I've kept a lot of white space, I'm happy with the result because usually I use a lot of color. Also, wanted to play on the contrast between "spring" which to me means freedom, openness, randomness as plants and leaves can grow anywhere and the fact that the butterflies and flowers I chose were boxed within geometrical shapes was very interesting to me, so I chose these stamped images for this page. To me it depicts the fact that even though things may not be as they ought to be, there may be "constraints",  life is still beautiful and we must embrace it for what it is. Hence, the title "life is beautiful" which is also stamped.

I wanted to emphasize the flowers so I colored in 1 focal image in each of the bunches (in the rectangles and squares) instead of all of them, to draw the eye towards the flowers :) I did some water coloring with zig markers and camlin brush pens and also used ink sprays. All the stamping was done with ranger's archival jet black ink as it is water proof. Very light background stamping was done in the gaps to create interest.
If you notice the close up pictures, you'll see that I have used an old diary from 2012 as my art journal, I just stick 2 pages together to make the paper thicker and easier to work with, apply white gesso on it and then the page is ready for journalling.

List of Supplies:

1. Magenta Cling Stamp- Life is beautiful
2. Mudra stamps - Go confidently
3. Ranger's Archival Jet black inkpad

8. Aqua brush- small, medium
