Post 257: Art Journal Page 1 (Abstract with watercoloring)

Hi Friends :)

I'd like to share an Art Journal Page I made recently. This was made for a Guest Design Post over at the Craftreat Blog showcasing their beautiful stencils, you can check out all the projects here.

I was really missing art journalling, making some projects for myself and just playing with watercolors without fear of form and style restrictions. So I watched a few of Maremismallart videos, Marta always inspires me when I'm feeling low :) if you have not checked out her youtube channel, please do, its wonderful and very inspirational.

So I just created some organic backgrounds with watercolors by spritzing with water and letting the color go where it wanted to then added stencil designs with distress inks and some circles with bottle caps. The sentiment is stamped. I matted it onto a black base to give a more finished look and lend strength to the page. I wanted to go for flat pages which I could bind together later on because my current journal is quite full and bulky, so this seemed like an easier way to work and create. I love the geometrical designs in the page, it is the abstract look I was going for.

List of Supplies:
Craftreat Stencils-  Washi Tape, Aztec Borders, 2 Step Lattice Flower
Visible Image Stamp- Tomorrow Doesn't Exist
Gansai Tambi Watercolor
Distress Oxide Inkpad- Broken China
Distress Inkpads- Chipped Sapphire, Peacock Feathers and Black Soot
Ranger's Round Blending Tool and foams
Versafine Onyx Black Mini Inkpad

Here are a couple of close up photos of the page:

  4. This is absolutely stunning! I'm so impressed with all of those yummy color splotches and drips in the background. They create a lovely sense of movement and energy. And then to pair that with bolder angles and colors was nothing short of brilliant! This is unique and totally original and I love the sentiment as well. Thank you for sharing such a breathtaking piece of art with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
